June Get Your Hex On

I posted off Chelsie's June block this lunch time, on the way to my allotment.  The weather was hot, so the digging was hard going. At least I remembered to take a cold drink with me. My tomatoes and peppers are doing really well, I must try and get a photo tomorrow.
Back to the June block, Chelsie wanted low volume octagons with white squares.  I discovered I don't have much in low volume, perhaps I need to stock up!!!
These were interesting to join and I'm looking forward to seeing the finished quilt.
Now it's posted I can read my new book,  Quilting On the Go, by Jessica Alexandrakis.
I think I might start with the pretty little pincushion.

  1. Love love love the idea of low volume hexies. Yours are beyond fabulous.

  2. You have octagons (8 sided)... hexies are 6 sided therefore hexagons. I'd guess yours should be called octies. This concludes the geometry class for today. LOL

  5. Love, love, LOVE the octagons! Maybe I will graduate to hexies and octs as I get more experience of quilting - so many fab things to learn!

I planted my tommies out tonight in the courtyard garden - have given up putting them (outside) at the allotment as they get smacked by blight. You remind me that I should take pics & update the blog! *sigh - so much fun to be had, so little time!

  6. I looked up that book and it has some nice projects in it. Some of the quilts are gorgeous. I haven't worked with hexies or octies yet, but they may be in my future. Yours look cute, especially with that little shot of color.
