Slow Stitching

 I'm revisiting a kit I bought on an online selling site. It is an old 1984 kit called Thirteen Colonies Album Quilt Kit.

I have finished four blocks, grapes,

 grain 

and two wreathes,

now onto another wreath.

Slow Stitching

 After vacuuming upstairs and reorganizing the old airing cupboard it's time to sit and sew with a large cup of coffee. This is the start of my month six of a BOM Patchwork of The Crosses box. I do all the cutting and basting first,  then the inter locking repetitive blocks before the larger more individual blocks. 

All the Christmas decorations are out and the cards posted. The weather is wet and windy, very grey, so I will need the lights on all day. It does mean I will not be standing on the touchline cheering on my grandson today at his football match. 

Sleet and rain

 A rather quick walk to the local post office to post Australian and American Christmas cards, the weather was as predicted, sleet and rain. Came home and found missing decoration hanger, my memory of where I had put only a couple of weeks ago had completely evaporated. It's now looking much better but I need to find the twinkle lights to finish it off. Walked round the block this afternoon, drier but a cold wind. Pleased to come home to a hot ginger drink.

Month 2 of Patchwork of the Crosses

 A record of sewing through the second half of the year. 

Month 2 of the 2019 BOM by Sew and Quilt of the Lucy Boston, Patchwork of the Crosses quilt.

I love the soothing repetitive of prepping the pieces and sewing the blocks. The lovely fabrics provided in the kits also keep me interested. I prep and sew the white and constant flowery fabric blocks first, saving the individual blocks as a treat.

Where did the time go?

 Well, no excuses, I just didn't add to my blog posts. I spent time at my allotment. I had a problem that meant a trip to the dentist, who's covid protection made him look and sound like Darth Vader. I left minus a tooth.

I knitted socks and started an English paper pieced quilt.

Life has been difficult and at times I haven't coped well. Next year will be better.

Snowmen and gardening.

So much for regular blogging, no excuses, I've had plenty of time, being at home so much.
The snow have continued to appear a couple each month.

He does look better with features.

These are addictive and lovely designs by the Australian company, Bunny Hill Designs.

Number Five, not sure about his large carrot nose.

I have decided to add further embellishments when they are all appliqued.

The scrappy wool bundle I bought has come in very handy for variety.

The ribbons and bows still to add and perhaps a scarf.

Whilst we had dry weather I gardened at home and at the allotment, it is allowed in lockdown as exercise. The rain will now help the potatoes and broad beans grow. The green house is overflowing with plants waiting for warmer nights.

I have teeny tiny cucumbers and a tomato growing on their plants already. I think April is a bit early though.
I must take a photo of the latest pair of socks finish.

Slow Sunday Stitching

Only a little bit of sewing on my snowmen but I'm just on the toe decrease for my sock. The merino /man made wool is lovely to knit with. It is actually a light lilac fleck colour.

I'll finish it this afternoon and applique the snowman this evening.
